Ottawa Women’s Canadian Club Day Trip to Montréal – Thursday, May 24, 2018This spring, enjoy a drive to Montreal for a tour of Montréal’s portal to its past. Château Ramezay was built in the 18th century as a prestigious residence and was the first building in Québec to be classified an historic monument. Relive more than 500 years of history through its exhibits and multimedia portrayals of historical figures. We will have lunch at The Sainte-FringaleCafeteria, located at Saint Joseph’s Oratory. Following lunch we will tour Saint Joseph’s Oratory. Founded in 1904, by Saint André Bessette, CSC, the shrine on Mount Royal is the most important pilgrimage center in the world dedicated to Saint Joseph. We are doing something right, another beautiful sunny day for our trip to Brockville to visit two Ontario Historic Trust Sites. There were 40 OWCC members and their friends on the bus. We toured Fulford Place mansion where we saw marvelous furnishings and learned the story of Senator Fulford, had lunch at the restored Mill Restaurant and then on to the Homewood Museum where we discovered the story of Dr. Solomon Jones. The group had an enjoyable day filled with Ontario history.

On an absolutely perfect spring day, 39 members of the Ottawa Women’s Canadian Club and their friends enjoyed the first tour that the Club has sponsored in many years! We are grateful to Sandra Weedmark for her willingness to arrange tours with the intent of contributing the proceeds to the Scholarship and Bursary Funds that are maintained by the OWCC. For this tour we started off by traveling to Balderson where we enjoyed visiting the small boutiques and, of course, the cheese factory! Then, we traveled to Merrickville where participants had lunch at the venue of their choice and shopped at the many lovely boutiques in the village.

Another perfect day in terms of weather!! Once again, there were 39 participants. We boarded the bus EARLY in the morning for the long drive to Prince Edward County. We started at Huff Estates where we enjoyed lunch, a tour of the winery, and a tasting. We were then joined by a tour guide from the area who took us to three additional wineries that all provided information and tasting. By the end of the day, we had the opportunity to sample 15 different wines! The tour was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the participants who eagerly look forward to the spring 2017 tour – – to be announced!
